Speaking task reflection
1. Speaking Task Reflection
Dannae Del Campo Méndez
In this assignment I could put in practice what I learnt in the past units in a deeper way. It gave me
the chance to create an instrument to assess speaking using the knowledge about the principles of
assessment and the creation of rubrics. The task was challenging to create because it was difficult
to decide if the level of difficulty was the proper one, or if the task will encourage students to
answer long sentences so we could evaluate them with the scoring. Moreover, it gave us the
chance to prove if our task was effective through a piloting and it gave us the opportunity to
change what it could be a problem for students at the moment of developing the test.
Another issue that I ignore before learning about this unit was the fact that we should care about
the context in which we are going to develop the instrument to assess students. It is important
also to create tasks oriented to the communicative approach so students can make a relation
about what they are learning and the real world.
