Reader’s Notes: 1.The aim of the presentation is not to detail every post high school opportunity/career path in detail. This a first step approach to first make students “aware” of the opportunities. 2. Provide general educational advice 3.This presentation does have a pro university skew.

When it all comes down to: Math is an essential aspect in every job and employers want people with the skill to scan over a sheet of numbers and draw something from it. Company directors are not math specialists, but they do have an understanding of maths, they can look at a accounting bal sheet and cal the key pieces of information
- How many of you agree with this statement? Reading is Important: How many of you can say they read a book & how often? (Magazines, leaflets, shopping catalogues, newspaper don’t count) Fiction Books. Reading is important, in that, the number one requirement for all job advertisements is communication skills! And how that relates to the importance of reading is that, only through reading other peoples ideas, can you begin to formulate and better communicate your own. I am not saying you should read a book everyday, what I am advocating is, “Pick up a book every once and while for fun.” It improves your vocabulary, it improves your comprehension. Poetry/Shakespeare is not easy, everyone struggles, but only by struggling with it does reading lower level material become easier.

However university life is this: Some days you have no classes, Some days you will have 3 hours of class Some days max of 5 hours Schedule your classes right you will have 3 days of classes (all day) and 4 day weekend. University starts in March ends in November. School starts in Feb ends Dec. All spells a better life than High School, leaving plenty of time for partying. However got to do the work now to get there.
- Insert clip art Some of the least brainy people I have met went to university, but what made them intelligent is that they had a goal, and they stuck to it.. Even when the got knocked down, or didn’t do as well at something (knocked down), they had the intelligence to persevere, and keep trying. Knowledge: Nothing is more achievable than if you have your mind set on it.
