1. Please write a brief (in 500 words) about your educational experience
with the present or former institute.
Ans.: It is always a difficult start when you lay the foundation of a new center of
Excellence that is trying to attempt never offered in India so far. When you are the
project yourself; Identifying resources, working on a shoe string budget, Getting
affiliations, Hiring manpower, allocating resources, laying down the guidelines, clearing
bureaucratic hindrances form all the part of the daily regime.
My stay at IMC-COAC has been a very enriching experience. You get to see the life from
the top. The avenues, which seem so far fetched off or too vague to be considered, now
see to be very clear and crucial. You are the team and have to function accordingly to get
the best results in shortest possible time. You are responsible directly and indirectly with
every aspect of the project.
My worked involved dealing with every aspect of Global computing and meeting with
professors from the University of Plymouth on a day-to-day basis exchanging emails and
videoconferencing on various issues. Architecting the Course guidelines, and Equality
and Quality policy. My experience with Scotland Adam Smith College opened up new
learning and carrier pathways for the prospective Indian student. My job involved
dealing with AICTE and UGC for the Indian approval of the courses. At the marketing
front Formulating Marketing and Education fair strategies for countrywide demography,
liaising with PR agencies for online presence and print media for creating awareness of
the school were very demanding and took the major part of the time. Recruitment of
Head of Departments and Faculty for the Center of Learning formed the part of my work.
As the education system in India is very conventional in relation to UK it was a challenge
to make up the course very relevant to the contemporary Indian industry. With the
advent of technology if your organization is not in tune with the times things start to
slack at the education front. Therefore the education has to be very industry oriented, as
the pass outs should not face a crunch in their carriers or future to come. As a Center one
of its distinctive goals is to provide a forum where through free inquiry and open
discussion the various lines of technical thought may intersect with all the forms of
knowledge found in the sciences, professions, and every other area of human scholarship
and creativity.
Center Of Advanced Computing strives to discover practical uses for theoretical
knowledge, and to speed the diffusion of information to residents of the state, the nation,
and the world. In fostering both research and its application, this Center will continue to
be a catalyst for positive intellectual, social, and technological change. The Center of
Advanced Computing aims to produce the next generation of computer scientists,
software engineers and knowledge workers emphasizing innovative and integrated
programs and new teaching and learning environments in India. Developing the website
of the New University and getting it a “edu.in” status from ERNET and Govt. of India
were also accomplished. Overall there is a feel good factor!
