Labour and the Environment
Work and the environment are often seen as being
opposed to one another because of the damages
caused by work on the ‘natural' environment. What
is most often overlooked is that the workplace is an
“environment” as well. In this course, we will look at
the relationships between workplace and ‘natural’
environments to better understand why are at odds
and how improvements in workplace environments
can bring improvements to ‘natural’ environments.
Feb. 28; Mar 1 , 9:30‐3:30
Hamilton Labour Council, 1130 Barton St. E.
Popular Culture, Media & Work
The mass media has a profound affect on how we
see and understand the world. In this course we will
examine how TV, movies and magazines shape our
understandings of work and labour? We will also look
at the new social media to see if and how they can be
used to change these popular understandings.
April 11 & 12, 9:30—3:30,
McMaster University, KTH‐709
