2. Want to leverage free online language
resources?
The Web is now teeming with free language resources such as parallel
texts, multilingual termbases, lexicons and ontologies.
Unfortunately, current localisation tools and processes do not readily take
advantage of these up-to-date free language resources.
3. Want to reduce and reuse effort in MT
post-editing and term extraction?
Today, post-editing MT content is time-consuming and labour intensive.
There is no obvious way to prioritise and focus post-editing effort.
MT systems are not usually fed back with post-editing corrections so their
performance never improves.
Terminology extraction is usually time consuming and very manual.
Integrating terminology with MT, post-editing and human translation
processes can be tricky.
4. The FALCON Project
FALCON is a research project that seeks to implement The Localisation Web, an
online localisation tool platform that:
Exploits decentralised and open language resources to enrich existing
translation memories and termbases.
Focuses and prioritises post-editing through text analysis and translation project
visualisations.
FALCON shows you the most important and/or representative segments and guides
post-editors to review and correct these first.
Enables MT engines to dynamically learn from focused post-editing to improve
quality quickly.
Features a self-tuning terminology extraction component that learns to identify
your project’s terminology.
Integrates a suite of cloud-based tools to support localisation in the cloud:
5. Use Cases
Content Publishers – Content is localised in The Cloud
and changes are deployed instantly
Localisation Service Providers – Dynamic retraining
allows you to quickly adapt generic-domain MT systems
to new domains with reduced effort.
Enterprises – Build your own corporate language
resources from free open language resources.
6. Industry Benefits
Increases translator productivity and reduces costs
Enriches corporate language resources for free
Allows small LSPs to compete in new markets
Localises The Cloud in The Cloud by pulling data from The
Cloud!
