2. What is Student Research Center? A database created by Ebscohost to cater to the needs of middle and high school students. Provides access to numerous Ebscohost databases in a single, reliable, easy to use, location. Subject matter includes current events, history, science, and health.

3. How do I get started? Visit the Leach Library database page: http://www.londonderrynh.org/library/library_005.htm Click on Ebscohost and enter the password Contact the reference desk for the password.

4. How do I search the database? Start a “basic search” by entering keywords into the find box. Limit or expand your search by checking or unchecking content sources (i.e. magazines, newspapers, etc.)

5. Keyword Search Results Basic keyword searches will often bring back thousands of items. In this example, “wetlands” brings back over 14,000!

6. Filter Results Using Tabs Click on the tabs to reduce the number of items to a manageable number. Clicking on “Radio & TV News Transcripts” reduced results to 119.

7. What is an “Advanced Search?” Allows you to limit your search so you don’t get too many items, which can be overwhelming and confusing. Get started by clicking on “Advanced Search”

8. Advanced Search Interface Limit search to a specific field Limit by document type Search by reading level, if desired

9. Sample Advanced Search Subject search for “Wetlands” Include only “magazines” Limit reading level to only grades 6-8

10. Advanced Search Results This advanced search returned only 92 items Further narrow results by clicking on subject headings.

11. Search Results Click on title for article abstract To go directly to full text click on “HTML Full Text” or “PDF Full Text”
