Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid City with plans for a fruitful and dynamic year of service.
The District New Generations Committee Chairperson Rtn. Jaanaki Anandasuntheram
and DRCC Rtn. PHF. Yohan Kumarapperuma graced the occasion while the presence of
many more Rotarians from the parent club, Rotary Club of Colombo Mid City was
witnessed. The special guest and keynote speaker Mr. Jose Ravano the Country Head of
Save the Children - Sri Lanka added a lot of colour and depth to the event though his
address.
Rotaract Club of Panadura
The 4th Installation ceremony of the Rotaract Club of
Panadura was successfully concluded on the 21st July
2012 at Saffron Beach Hotel, Wadduwa, to install Rtr.
Ruwanthi Illeperuma as its new president. The outgoing
president of the club is Rtr. IPP. Bhagya Rathnayake who
was an outstanding leader guiding the club to great
heights over the past year. The chief guest of the event
was Rtn. PP. Aravinda Perera, Managing Director of
Sampath Bank and past president of the Rotary Club of
Panadura. The highlight of the installation ceremony was
its distinct theme “Spring” to emphasize environmental
protection together with the launch of the project “HARITHA”. The club has already

completed the first phase of the project by giving away vegetable plants as tokens to
encourage participants to engage in horticulture with an aim of remedying climate
change and global warming.

was the Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo
Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama while the guest of
honour was Rtn. Trihan Perera president of the
parent Club, Rotary club of Colombo Downtown. The
event inaugurated Rtr. Sudham Dewaraja as the President of the upcoming year while
appreciating the Immediate Past President Rtr. Amal Vithanage for his exceptional
service in bringing tremendous success to the club during his year of service.

Club of Batticaloa), DRR Rtr. PP. Dr. Dilhan S. Jayatilleke, Rotarians of Rotary Club of

Batticaloa and fellow Rotaractors representing many Rotaract Clubs in Sri Lanka. The
outstanding audience of more than 75 participants was undoubtedly a motivation for
the newly revived club. Rtr. Milton Mathushan, the president of the club said; “I do
believe that by working together and continuing to build upon our success, we can
strengthen the future of our organization. I do believe that through the unity in our
commitment to ethical standards and a higher level of services, we are leading Rotaract
to another century of service”.

Rotaract Club of American National College (ANC)
The 7th Installation
Ceremony of the
Rotaract Club of
ANC was held on
the 3rd of August
2012. The
occasion took
place in the ANC
auditorium where
over 90 guests
witnessed the
induction of Rtr. Nirmal Fernando as the President of the club and his board of directors
for the year 2012/2013. After a year of dedicated service as a member, Rtr. Nirmal
Fernando was officially given the responsibilities by the outgoing president Rtr. Chirath
Manchanayake. Rtn. PHF. Sebastian Karunakaran (President of the Rotary Club of
Colombo West) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Upali Mampitiya (Chief
Academic officer-Academic head of US Degree completion) was the Guest of Honor for
the event. Rtr. Chirath Manchanayake, together with his board and the members was
able to do an outstanding job in his year, with the club being awarded 17 awards in the
District Assembly held on the 31st of June 2012. The club has set off to do many projects
in the upcoming year, beholding the true Rotaract spirit, serving the community as well
as each other through ‘Reaching the Unreachable‘.
