MARS MORGAN BILLINGTON
INTRODUCING MARS I chose Mars because: I have heard that there is water on Mars. Mars is the fourth planet in the solar system. It is named after the roman god of war. It is probably possible to live on it.
TEMPERATURE AND DISTANCE Mars is 142 million miles from the sun. The temperature there is – 184° to + 80° F degrees.
IS THERE WATER ON MARS Scientists thought there is water on Mars but it turns out it was mostly ice.
SURFACE The surface on Mars is made out of iron oxide and basalt.
GASES The gases on Mars are poisonous they are made out of: nitrogen, argon, and oxygen.
ATMOSPHERE The atmosphere on Mars is made out of nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide and other gases.
INTERESTING FACTS Mars is about half the size of Earth only 6,800 km across. Olympus Mons is taller than Mount Everest. One of Mars’s moons is going to crash into it.
LIFE Mars could probably support life if they melted the ice to make water and used a machine to take the poisonous gases out of the air. But if they did not do that it would not be possible for life on it because: there is poisonous gases in the air it is to cold.
