12. ? – citing ACS is a numbered style – basically like footnotes, but with all the citations collected at the end of the paper. For examples, see any paper in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. There are two ways to quote information: Use the author’s exact words – “use quotes” Paraphrase in your own words – no quotes Either way, cite where it came from.

13. ? – prolific authors To find prolific authors / number of papers: Do a search Look at “Refine” or “Analyse” The top author listed there has published the most papers in this database Note: Databases don’t include all papers in the world! (It’s just not possible – there are billions out there.) So check more than one database, make sure to acknowledge that this is only a minimum.

14. ? – the log The log could include anything relevant from: Where you searched What search terms you used What limits you used How you refined the search What results you got (print a copy or summarise) Your judgement: was this a successful search? why?
