3. Dukhan Oil Fields: The Beginning Dukhan is a town on the West Coast of Qatar, where all its onshore oil is produced. Oil was first discovered in 1939 and exported in 1949. 235 000 barrels / day are now piped to Umm Said for refining and export. QP Induction Series-Dukhan 3 2011/09/25

5. Qatar Makes Concessions... In the 1990s, the Emir of Qatar gave QP custodianship of the western area to explore and develop. The Concession Area is an 80km x 50km strip along the West Coast. 2011/09/25 QP Induction Series-Dukhan 5

6. Go East! All Dukhan oil is pumped 100 kilometres east to Umm Said on the East Coast. Oil is refined and exported in the industrial city in Umm Said. 2011/09/25 QP Induction Series-Dukhan 6

11. Need a Lift? Surplus gas from North Field in the Gulf was used from 1989 to raise pressures in Dukhan. The injection of gas into oil reservoirs to raise pressure was called the “Gas Lift Project” 2011/09/25 QP Induction Series-Dukhan 11
