3 Ways to Show Movement

                                 motion
                                 while
Camera moving camera is
again stationary still

                   Camera
                   and subject
                   both in
                   motion
The Aperture
 Aperture- >size of lens opening
 Controls the brightness of light that enters the sensor or film
 Size of aperture indicated by its f-number or f-stop
 Few lenses provide a range of apertures greater than eight
    stops
 Size of aperture controls amount of light that goes through
    the lens
 Smaller the aperture size-> the more of a scene that will be
    sharp from near to far
The Aperture cont.
Using Shutter and Aperture
Together
 Shutter speed & aperture affect the amount of light entering
    the camera.
 They also affect sharpness.

                                                  Example: small aperture
                                                  and slow shutter speed
Choosing a camera
 Take into consideration the types of pictures you want to take
 Adjustable cameras-> suitable for photography students or a
    serious amateur
 Resolution of sensor or size of film determine the quality of
    the camera’s images
Single-Lens reflex cameras
 Shows scene directly through lens
 Viewing system built around a mirror
 Pros: works well with all lenses from wide angle to super
    telephoto;useful for closeups
 Cons: heavier, larger, and usually more expensive than a
    compact camera
Rangefinder/Viewfinder
Cameras
 Shows scene through a small window (viewfinder)
 Equipped with simple lens system that shows an almost
exact view of what the picture will be
 Pros: compact, lightweight, fast handling
 Cons: prevents you from seeing exactly what the lens sees
Compact digital cameras
 Generate photographs by focusing the light rays of a scene
through a lens onto a sensor;sensor converts the image to
data that is moved to a memory card
 Pros: wide range of styles, features, and price
 Cons: difficult to adjust manually; most have a
    noninterchangeable lens; many have no viewfinder;
    noticeable delay
View cameras
 Has direct, through-the-lens viewing and a large imagine on
    a viewing screen
   Pros: you see exactly what is seen through the lens;
    precisely control focus or perspective
 Cons: bulky and heavy, slow to use
Keeping the Camera Steady
