2. Introduction to Paper
• Media today has evolved into a multi-faceted
force that has become an integral part of our life,
influencing almost everything we do. Media is no
longer confined to one way communication. Using
available technology and social media we can
now communicate and interact with one another
anywhere on earth instantly. Today information
virtually has no barriers thanks to this media
explosion

3. • Mr. Francesco Frangialli , the former UNWTO
Secretary-General once expressed the view that
modern day tourism is highly dependent on
media reporting. He said so because today, a
vast majority of travel decisions are made by
people who have never seen their intended
destination first hand for themselves.
Role of Media in Promoting Tourism
4. • Tourists usually decide on the destination first,
based on what they have heard or seen from
media.
• Media include every broadcasting medium such as
newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, billboards, direct
mail, telephone, fax, and internet.
• The growing popularity of the internet and social
sites such as Face book and Twitter, social media is
now an important channel that allows messages
to be spread to the public

30. Conclusion
Tourism is one of the major industries for GDP
and employment generation. People need to
make aware regarding the attractions located at
different parts of the world. Here media acts as
the link between the Tourism and development of
Destinations. Gradually all these media are
creating a positive image and a picture of tourism
in the attitudes, minds, perception, psychology,
behavior or and in the final selection of the site
(inbound and outbound tourist).So Kalaburagi
heritage sites has many more to offer to Tourist
as well as to localities, just it needs a promotion
through the different types of media available in
the market.
