Factors Affecting Language Learning Strategies

- 2. • It is important to know the students family and cultural background. • Because there are some students who does not excel in language learning because they did not get full support from their family. • Some families encourage their children to learn their mother tongue language more than English. • Thus, students in this categories need full support and attention from their language teacher.
- 3. Learning language is not easy thus students need to be motivated all the time to ensure that they will not give up easily when they face any difficulties in learning the language. INTRINSIC MOTIVATION – give them full inner support in term of hard work, help them solve problems, etc. EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION – reward them when they succeed in doing the language task given, or give them a present if they manage to speak, answer questions correctly. (more effective)
- 4. • Learners who have wide experience in learning either mathematics, science, will be more easier to learn language. • They are exposed to specific terms in English although they might not know their meaning. • Thus it will eventually develop their interest more on learning language.
- 5. ‘’ learners who have acquired general knowledge and experience are in stronger position to develop a new language than those who doesn’t ‘’
- 6. • Every person has their own learning styles that differs from other individuals. • There are several main types of learning styles or strategies affect language learning. a) Through audio (auditory learners) b) Through visual (visual learners) c) Through experiment (kinesthetic learners) Thus, an individuals who wants to learn language effectively needs to use learning style that is suitable for them.
- 7. • To learn language effectively, a person needs to develop a character in them that plays an important role in ensuring the learning process went well. • RISK-TAKING is an example of character that should be developed because by taking risk, we tend to learn more even though if it is by making mistake.
