How Does a Utopian Society Work?
- A utopian society is a society that is perfect
- Different opinions of how a utopian society would work
- Creator of the idea of Utopia was Thomas More
- The view of Robert Owen’s utopia would have been that workers have
better quality life. He mainly focused of human rights, equality and
democracy. He had a specific vision of how education would be given
to children. His vision was that students only went to school for five
years, ages five to ten, and enrolment would be free. The subjects that
the children would learn would have been, reading, writing, and math.

- Greek word “ou-topos” means “nowhere” or “no-place”
- Similar Greek word, “eu-topos” means “good place”
- The word Utopia, is a combination of “ou-topos” and “eu-topos”
meaning Utopia is a good place but isn’t real.

Utopia is a complex, self-contained world. This is what Thomas More
imagined, a world of peace. By publishing a book called Utopia in 1516,
Thomas More created the idea of Utopia.
