This document outlines an information literacy instruction session for first-year writing students. The session aims to have students brainstorm research questions, identify appropriate search tools, practice searching for sources, and use the search process to strategically explore their research topics. It maps the learning objectives to several frames from the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy, including Searching as Strategic Exploration and Scholarship as Conversation. It also notes that not every learning outcome needs to be formally assessed.
