The author visits her daughter and is taken to see a large daffodil garden planted by a single woman over many years. She is inspired by the woman's persistence in planting one bulb at a time, which resulted in a magnificent five acre garden. The experience teaches the author that great things can be accomplished through small, consistent efforts done daily over long periods of time. She realizes she could have achieved more if she had worked persistently on her own goals one step at a time, and is motivated to start working on her goals immediately rather than waiting for some future time.
