vranavastu. Vrana always followed by vranavastu.

तयोः शारीरः ििनवित्तकफशोणणतसन्ननिाततनरमत्तः;
These appears due to vitiation of Vata, pitta kapha, rakta and Sannipataj seprate and
With combination theses all are 15 types.
Vitiation of doshas occurs first before appearance of vrana.
7. Lakshana
तस्य लक्षणं द्व्विविधं- सामानयं, िैशेवषकं च |
तत्र सामानयं रुक् |
विशेषलक्षणं िुनिाणतार्दरलङ्गविशेषः ||६||

15. Dustha vrana
तत्राततसंिृतोऽततवििृतोऽततकर्ठनोऽततमृदुरुत्सननोऽिसननोऽतत
शीतोऽत्युष्णः नगनधात्यर्णदाहिाकरागिेदनािातनतत वित्तेन,
शेषाः कफे न; उनमागी मुखात् मुखानतरिान्, उत्सङ्गः
कोटरः’ इतत चक्रः; कृ ष्णरततिीतशुतलादीनां
िणाणनामनयतमिणो ्ैरिः िूततिूयमांसरसरास्नायुप्र्ृततर्ः
िूणणः िूततिूयास्राव्युनमानयुणत्सङ्नयमनोज्ञदशणनगनधोऽत्यर्ं
िेदनािान् दाहिाकरागकर्ण्डूशोफविडकोिद्रुतोऽत्यर्ं
दुष्टशोणणतास्रािी दीघणकालानुबनधी चेतत दुष्टव्रणरलङ्गातन |
All the nija vrana are dustha from initial but agantuj vrana
become dustha later according to involve dosha. These
above are features of that dustha vrana.
16. Suddha Vrana (healthy wound)
न्जह्िातला्ो मृदुः न्स्ननधः श्लक्ष्णो विगतिेदनः सुव्यिन्स्र्तो
तनरास्रािश्चेतत शुद्व्धो व्रण इतत

The vrana which is soft, smooth, color like tongue, painless, clear
margins and without discharge are called Suddha vrana.
त्रत्रर्दोषैरनाक्रानतः श्यािौष्ठः विडकी समः | अिेदनो तनरास्रािो
व्रणः शुद्व्ध इहोच्यते Su.SU.23/18
The vrana have all three dosha balance, bluish margins, granulation
, without pain and discharge are called Suddha vrana.
17. Ruhyaman (Healing wound)
किोतिणणप्रततमा यस्यानताः
तलेदिन्जणताः | न्स्र्रान्श्चविर्टकािनतो
रोहतीतत तमार्दशेत् ||१९||

pigeon, no discharge, firm and full of
granulation tissue.
18. Samyak rudha vrana (Healed wound)
रूढित्माणनमग्रन्नर्मशूनमरुजं व्रणम् |
त्ितसिणं समतलं सम्यग्रूढं वितनर्दणशेत्

23. Agantuj vrana (Sadhyo vrana)
नानाधारामुखैः शस्त्रैनाणनास्र्ानतनिातततैः | नानारूिा व्रणा ये स्युस्तेषां िक्ष्यारम
लक्षणम् ||

The sudden injury by any sharp objects having various shape, blade (sharp or Blunt)
when causing trauma leads to different types of surgical wounds are considered as
Sadhyo vrana.
24. Traumatic wound
आयताश्चतुरस्राश्च त्र्यस्रा मर्ण्डरलनस्तर्ा | अधणचनद्रप्रतीकाशा विशालाः कु र्टलास्तर्ा ||
शराितनम्नमध्याश्च यिमध्यास्तर्ाऽिरे | एिम्प्रकाराकृ तयो ्िनत्यागनतिो व्रणाः ||
दोषजा िा स्ियं र्नना, न तु िैद्व्यतनरमत्तजाः Su.Chi.2/5-7
Different shape like Rectangular , square, triangle, oval, semicircular, wide, soccer like
these types of wound are due to traumatic injury. These are neither prepared doshas
nor by the surgeon.
25. Classification of Sadhyo vrana
अननताकृ ततरागनतुः स र्षन्न्ः िुरातनैः ||८|| समासतो लक्षणतः ष्विधः
िररकीततणतः |९|
तिननं र्ननं तर्ा विद्व्धं क्षतं विन्च्चतमेि च ||९|| घृष्टमाहुस्तर्ा षष्ठं तेषां
िक्ष्यारम लक्षणम ् |१०|
On the basis of different mechanism of injury Acharya has
classified wound in 6 types.
1. Chinna
2. Bhinna
3. Viddha
4. Kshata
5. Pichchita
6. Dhrastha
26. Chinna
ततरश्चीन ऋजुिाणऽवि यो व्रणश्चायतो ्िेत्
||१०|| गात्रस्य िातनं चावि
तिननरमत्युिर्दश्यते |११|
The wound occurred by the wide, curved
or straight object causing injury leading to
separation of body part either complete
or partial is called Chinna vrana.

27. Bhinna
कु नतशतत्यृन्ष्टखङ्गाग्रविषाणार्दर्राशयः ||११||
हतः ककन्ञ्चत् स्रिेत्तद्व्चध र्ननलक्षणमुच्यते |१२|
The wound created by very sharp objects like tip of
sward, horn etc. leading to puncture the different
Aashaya of body and followed by discharge form
different Aashaya are called as Bhinna injury.
May be correlated as incisional/stab wound
तन्स्मन् र्नने रततिूणे ज्िरो दाहश्च जायते ||१३||
मूत्रमागणगुदास्येभ्यो रततं घ्राणाच्च गच्ितत |
मूच्िाणश्िासतृडाध्मानम्ततच्िनद एि च ||१४||
विर्ण्मूत्रिातसङ्गश्च स्िेदास्रािोऽक्षक्षरततता |
लोहगन्नधत्िमास्यस्य गात्रदौगणनध्यमेि च ||१५||
हृच्िू लं िाश्िणयोश्चावि... |१६
28. आमाशयस्र्े रुचधरे रुचधरं िदणयेत् िुनः ||१६|| आध्मानमततमात्रं च शूलं च ्ृशदारुणम्
| Incisional or stab injury of abdomen leads to vomiting of blood, distension of
abdomen as well as sever pain.
ितिाशयगते चावि रुजो गौरिमेि च ||१७|| शीतता चाप्यधो ना्ेः खेभ्यो रततस्य
चागमः |१८|
Injury to the large bowel lead to severe pain, hypothermia (cold body), heavyness and
distension in lower abdomen with bleeding from wound.
29. Viddha
सूक्ष्मास्यशल्यार्हतं यदङ्गं त्िाशयाद्व्विना ||१९|| उत्तुन्र्ण्डतं तनगणतं िा तद्व्विद्व्धरमतत
तनर्दणशेत् |२०|
The small sharp objects when give penetrating injury to the body other than ashaya
then called as Viddha injury.
30. Kshata
नाततन्च्िननं
नाततर्ननमु्योलणक्षणान्नितम् || विषमं
व्रणमङ्गे यत्तत् क्षतं त्िर्तनर्दणशेत् |

The wound created by the blunt objects
where neither the excessive excisional
nor the excessive punctured injury called
as Kshata vrana.
May be called as lacerated wound.
31. Pichchita
प्रहारिीडनाभ्यां तु यदङ्गं िृर्ुतां गतम्
||२१|| सान्स्र् तत् विन्च्चतं
विद्व्यानमज्जरततिररप्लुतम् |२२|
Injury by heavy objects leading to crush
that part with bone and muscles and
wound appeared mixed with blood called
as Pichchita vrana.
May be correlated as crush injury
32. Dhrastha
विगतत्िनयदङ्गं र्ह सङ्घषाणदनयर्ाऽवि िा ||२२|| उषास्रािान्नितं तत्तु
घृष्टरमत्युिर्दश्यते |२३|
The injury created by strong rubbing force leading to expose the underline tissue and
discharge of serous discharge called as Dhrastha vrana.
May correlated to abrasion.
