1. Expert podiatrist Dr. Andrew Carver has practiced foot and ankle medicine for over three decades. In
order to keep up with changes in his profession, Dr. Andrew Carver is a member of American College
of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, or ACFAS. This group makes available a variety of volunteer
opportunities for its members, including educational instruction, regional leadership positions, and
volunteering.
Instructing an educational program for ACFAS can be new and exciting for those who have not
volunteered with the organization before. The educational program committees constantly create new
courses about technique and surgical skills surrounding podiatry. Visit acfas.org to learn more about
these courses.
If the idea of teaching is not attractive, becoming an officer of a regional division is one of the most
hands-on ways to get involved with ACFAS. The group’s 14 regional divisions provide volunteers with
the opportunity to get involved with local seminars, labs, and meetings.
Finally, ACFAS sponsors an incredibly wide range of events for which it needs volunteers. Eleven
committees and task forces hold association with the ACFAS, so volunteers can get involved with
exactly the topic they desire. Some of the most prominent committees at ACFAS are the Surgical Skills
Committee, the Post Graduate Affairs Committee, and the Annual Scientific Conference Committee.
