This document discusses the implementation of a biometric attendance system using fingerprint recognition at a trauma center. It notes that biometric technology provides a reliable way to verify identities compared to cards or passwords. The trauma center installed biometric machines in 2009 to enroll 898 permanent and 680 temporary employees. A test trial in 2013 showed only 30% compliance with the biometric system compared to access cards. So in July, strict biometric attendance was enforced, increasing compliance to 90% by August. An electronic duty roster was also implemented, accessible to staff, to help with shift management and tracking leaves by linking it to the biometric data. This improved productivity monitoring and patient care.
