Submit your business to free directories that allow you to be placed in a relevant category, that allow for your
website address to be included in the free listing, that will drive relevant traffic to your website, that looks
professional and has a high search engine ranking. (Never focus on directories solely to aid with link popularity,
always look at how it will help drive quality traffic to your website)

Local and National Partnerships
Identify businesses locally and nationally that you can create partnerships and packages with. Create packages
that help sell both parties’ products/services. Part of the agreement is that your package will be promoted on
their website (and vice versa).
Remember: Create a landing page on your website that only promotes the package agreed and contains strong calls
to action.

How will you use social media to drive link popularity and your online footprint? Think of what your customer’s
wants, needs and desires and create packages and offers for your social media followers only. (In Facebook you
can create a Fan Gate; this means that only Fans will get access) This will incentivise them to connect with you
(“Like” your page) and will aid with sharing of information.
The key is creating packages that people will naturally want to share. It does not necessarily mean reducing costs
but adding additional value to the package.
Remember: to aid with your link building and online footprint, it’s the posts that include a link to your website that
are important and require sharing (BUT don’t bombard them with lots of selling messages, remember you are
building relationships so share relevant information and start conversation)

Identify forum threads (topics) and third party blogs that you could contribute to. A lot of Forums and Blog links will
be “no follow” links (search engine will not count it towards links popularity) but if you are adding extra value to
their content it will help drive quality traffic to your website which is extremely important. DO NOT use third party
blogs and forums solely for the purpose to promote yourself, get involved in conversations, add value to the content
and this will allow others to see you as an expert in what you do and will in turn drive quality traffic to your site.
