To ensure a relevant discussion within the provided time frame, we recommend the following:
1. First 5 minutes: Panellists and topic introduction by moderator
2. Next 25 minutes: insight sharing on sub topics
3. Moderator may start every sub topics by providing real-life examples and anecdotes and then
address the issue for the panelists.
4. Final 5 minutes: interaction with participants + wrap-up
Other tips for interactive panel discussion:
1) Please keep your answers brief - and to-the-point. This gets (and keeps) the audience
attentive.
2) Provide as many real-life examples and anecdotes as possible - audience relate well with
these.
3) Do not hesitate to disagree with each others' viewpoints. It's important for an effective
dialogue!
4) The audience typically has regional responsibilities - so feel free to cite regional examples.
5) Encourage audience participation - either by asking a question through a show of hands, and
then responding to it in your own experience, and by ensuring the last 5 minutes allotted are
kept open for any questions from the floor.

3. BRIEF BIODATA OF PANELISTS
Koljit Singh serves as the head of organisational and cultural excellence at BASF PETRONAS
Chemicals, responsible for driving the organisational strategy and culture by creating a strong sense
of ownership and positive synergy.
He also looks after performance management and capability building where he is helping to
accelerate transformation through leadership by attracting and developing the best talent and building
a culture of engagement and innovation.
Before BASF, he was the head of learning and development at TNT Express (M) where he led talent
management, performance management, leadership development and organisational development.
He courageously brings visibility to and simplifies complex issues and has a talent for facilitating
meaningful conversations about what matters most. This enables him to create high-impact results-
oriented cultures in organisations undergoing change and transformation.
4. Laurence Yap has 20 years of driving human resource, organization development and talent
management in multiple local conglomerate and multinational companies. He has served in Pfizer,
PayPal, Western Digital and First Solar in Malaysia and Asia Pacific Region.
Currently, he is the head of HR at Dexon Electrical Engineering. He has won Global Training and
Development Leadership Award and Asia HR Leadership Award from World HR Congress. He did his
bachelor’s and master’s degree at University Malaya. He has also been awarded a Fellowship
Scholarship for his postgraduate studies.
With more than 28 years of experience, Peter Leong started his career in banking and finance for IT
mainly in shared services, financial services and has eight-plus years in oil and gas
chemicals/manufacturing in a regional/global IT role, inclusive of business processes and continuous
improvements.
5. Having strong people, leadership and team management skills, alongside talent development, service
delivery and account management, he has been in Kenanga’s senior management team since 2010
with links to Gartner and CIO World for technology solutions.
He has more than 25 years in technological roles and also has a wealth of experience in
team/people/budget management.
Some main achievements include transformation programmes and regional/global rewards
programmes.
Mohamed Parrish Ersalle has more than 26 years of experience in the human resources fraternity
from various industries ranging from manufacturing, financial services and investment holdings and
property management.
He began his career in Nestlé foods as a management trainee and was given the exposure to be
involved in collective agreement negotiations at a very young age.
After various stints, he headed the human resources relations function. Subsequently, he joined
BASF as a training manager responsible for training and development and recruitment.
In the financial industry, he was attached to Allianz Malaysia as the group head of human resources
and later joined Prudential BSN Takaful as the chief human resources officer. At Allianz, he was
awarded the HR Director of 2010 at the Southeast Asia HR Excellence Awards.
Currently, he is with Sapura Resources as the group head of human resources. He leads the HR
function and is very much involved in strategic HR initiatives that align with the business objectives.
6. Roine Gabrielsson joined Norwegian IT company StrongPoint in 2012, heading the European
business. Since 2016 he has been the managing director for the Asia Pacific region, starting up the
business from scratch.
Having worked more than 20 years in the IT software business, his experience in strategic and
operational management spans the US, Europe and now Asia.
He is a strong believer in values-driven organisations, applying an informal leadership style that
fosters employee empowerment and individual accountability.
He has an MBA from Henley Business School in the UK.
