Are we confident that our light is bright
Vol. 46 December 14, 2021 Number 48
THE NIGHT JESUS CAME
Author Unknown
Twas the night Jesus came and all through the house, not a person was praying,
not one in the house...
The Bible was left on the shelf without care, for no one thought Jesus soon
would be there...
The children were dressing to crawl into bed, not once ever kneeling or bowing
their head...
And Mom in the rocking chair with babe on her lap,
was watching the Late Show while I took a nap...
When out of the east there arose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what
was the matter... Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters
and lifted the sash...
When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Angels proclaiming that
Jesus was here... The light of His face made me cover my head, it was Jesus
returning just like He'd said...
And though I possess worldly wisdom and wealth, I cried when I saw Him in
spite of myself... Jesus came with all his saints, Those killed in the womb were
not even faint.
In the Book of Life which He held in his hand, was written the name of every
saved man...
He spoke not a word as he searched for my name, when He said "it's not here,"
my head hung in shame...
The people whose names had been written with love, He gathered to take to his
Father above... With those who were ready there arose a great shout, for all the
rest it was such a big route...
I fell to my knees but it was too late, I'd waited too long and thus sealed my
fate...
I stood and I cried as they went to the right, For those on the left it was an eternal
night...
Fear and fire and wail! Oh that I had been spared such a gale!
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear the coming of Jesus is now
drawing near...
There's only one life and when comes the last call,
We'll find out that the Bible was true after all...

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief
in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass
away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt
with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that
are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all
these things shall be dissolved, what manner of
persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and
godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming
of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on
fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt
with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his
promise, look for new heavens and a new earth,
wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore,
beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be
diligent that ye may be found of him in peace,
without spot, and blameless. And account that the
longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our
beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom
given unto him hath written unto you;” (2 Peter
3:10-15). Author well known!

EMYG News
Hello church family,
Don’t forget that tonight is the ladies’ ornament swap,
Bible class tomorrow, the men’s tool swap Thursday,
and TGIF Friday beginning at 9:00pm. (Kids, bring a
$10 dirty Santa gift).
In the year 2000, a Christmas song was released
entitled Christmas Shoes. It’s a sad song, but also serves
as a good reminder of a couple of things.
First off, there are those around us who need us
to help them. The song is written from the perspective of
standing behind watching this young kid trying to buy
their mom Christmas Shoes before she dies. This young
kid wouldn’t have been able to make that purchase if it
hadn’t been for the person standing behind him. There
are people in the world who sometimes need to rely on
the generosity and goodness of others. Yes, Christmas is
a time of giving and receiving, but every day we need to
develop an eye to see opportunities to do and be that
person ready to help those in need (Luke 10:25-37).
Secondly, this song coveys the importance of
giving God our very best. This son wanted his mom to
look beautiful for when she would meet Jesus. It’s easy
day after day to get in a habit of doing mediocre work.
Colossians 3:23, Paul days, “Work willingly at whatever
you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather
than for people.” Our work, our words, our interactions
with people need to be our very best. Why? Because we
must do all things correctly because God is our audience.
And when we don’t, we must ask God to forgive us.
From this moment on, let us do good to all,
especially those in the household of faith, and let us do
our very best to present ourselves as being the very best
we can be to God. During this holiday season, safe
travels and God bless.
