3. Bandung Lautan Api
Bandung Lautan Api was the deliberate burning of much of the southern
side of the city of Bandung by retreating Indonesian Republicans during the
Indonesian National Revolution.
An ultimatum was given by the British commander in Bandung for the
Indonesian combatants in Bandung to leave the city. In response, the
southern part of Bandung was deliberately burned down in an act of
defiance as they left on March 24, 1946; an event which came to be known
as Bandung Lautan Api. The revolutionary song “Halo-halo Bandung” was
sung by hundreds of Indonesian nationalists in Bandung.
During the evacuations in March 1946, Mohammad Toha, a member of
Indonesian militia, smuggled several sticks of dynamite past Japanese and
Dutch troops, and into the Dutch military Headquarters in Dayeuh Kolot. He
detonated the dynamite in warehouses of ammunition, killing himself and
several Dutch, Japanese troops in the area. The explosion created a small
lake (“situ”) in Dayeuh Kolot. The main street in the area is called
“Mohammad Toha Street”.
5. Bandung Lautan Api
Lagu
revolusioner "Halo-halo Bandung" dinyanyikan oleh ratusan nasionalis
Indonesia di Bandung.
Selama evakuasi Maret 1946, Mohammad Toha, anggota milisi
Indonesia, menyelundupkan beberapa batang dinamit lama bekas pasukan
Jalan utama
di daerah ini disebut “Jalan Mohammad Toha"
7. Falling from tree
When I was kid, I felt out of my friend’s mango tree. At that time, my friends
and I wanted to eat mango in front of my friend’s house. The tree was very
high. We could not climb it because at that time we were little.
Because no one dared to climb the tree, I braced myself to climb it. I knew
that I could not climb the tall tree. However, I want to show them that I was
great. Then I climbed the tree. Having reached the top, I started looking for
fruit which I would take. I saw my friends from the bottom praised me. “Great,
you are awesome!” said one of my friends. “Fetch the fruit!” begged my friend.
Then I tried to reach the fruit. However, when I was about to pick it up, the
trunk where I stand broken. I felt from the tree. “Gubraaakk”. My body crushed
the ground. I cried in pain. I see blood was coming out of my head.
At that moment, I was ushered by my friend to my home. They told my
mother that I fell out of a mango tree. Then my mother treated my wounds.
Until now the wound is still seen in my arm. Every time I see it, I remember
my childhood that careless and love to be praised.
9. Jatuh Dari Pohon
Aku melihat
teman-temanku memuji ku dari bawah . “wah hebat sekaili kamu!” seru salah satu
temanku. “ambilkan buah yang itu!” pinta temanku. Lalu aku berusaha meraih buah
itu. Namun, ketika aku hendak mengambilnya, batang tempat aku berpijak patah.
Akupun jatuh dari pohon itu. “Gubraaakk” tubuh ku mengahantam tanah. Aku
menangis kesakitan.
