*I have chosen to do horror as it is a very
popular genre to my target audience which is
males and females from 15-30. Horror films
have lots of generic conventions that separate
it from other genres as it creates a tense and
fearful atmosphere which keeps the viewers on
the edge of their seats and engages them so
they want to watch more. The aim of horrors is
to give the audience a thrill and make them
feel scared unlike genres such as romance and
comedy so I think it will be interesting to film.

*I am planning to film my opening scene in a house
to create a realistic setting and it will be in a big
house that is quite secluded with not many
neighbours as this will bring a feeling of isolation
and show that the character will later on have
nowhere to run to. I am going to film at night time
as my genre is horror and lots of horror films are set
at night time as it creates a more sinister feeling. I
will film in different rooms of the house including
the kitchen, the living room and also the basement
as this will create an eerie effect as basements are
cold and empty so it will set the right atmosphere.

*My idea is to have a girl home alone at night time in
a big secluded house and she starts hearing noises.
She hears something coming from the basement so
she goes down to have a look but doesn’t find
anything so she goes back upstairs. She hears the
noise again so back down to the basement and the
door shuts behind her. She runs up to the door but it
is locked and something grabs her from behind and
the last thing you hear is her scream. I want to end
it like this to leave it on a cliff hanger.

*My inspiration has come from watching other
horror film openings especially scream as it
creates a very tense and chilling atmosphere
which is what I want my opening to do.
Watching trailers for horror films has also
inspired me as I know what the generic
conventions are so I can included them in my
opening.
