I am passionate about many things, perhaps too many. Prior to working in the non-profit sector I spent 20+ years of my working life as a property/casualty insurance broker in Washington, DC. Reluctant at first, I became quite fond of the work and the people. I earned the coveted CPCU and ARM designations. I became fascinated with the history of the insurance business. Two abiding interests are firemarks (those plates that hang on old building: advertising insurance companies and in some cases indicating that the building was insured) and Lloyds of London.
