2. FACEBOOK
Facebook was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college
roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew
McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.
The founders had initially limited the website's membership to students of the
University of Harvard, but later expanded it to colleges in the Boston area, the
Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students
at various other universities before it opened to high-school students, and
eventually to anyone aged 13 and over.

3. TWITTER
Twitter is an online social networking and microblogging service that enables
users to send and read "tweets", which are text messages limited to 140
characters. Registered users can read and post tweets but unregistered
users can only read them. Users access Twitter through the website interface,
SMS, or mobile device app.
Twitter Inc. is based in San Francisco and has offices in New York City, Boston,
San Antonio and Detroit.
Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone and
Noah Glass and by July 2006, the site was launched. The service rapidly
gained worldwide popularity, with 500 million registered users in 2012, who
posted 340 million tweets per day. The service also handled 1.6 billion search
queries per day.

4. VINE
Vine is a mobile app owned by Twitter that enables its users to
create and post short video clips. The service was introduced
with a maximum clip length of six seconds and can be shared
or embedded on social networking services such as Twitter
and Facebook. Though Vine was initially available only for
iOS devices, it has been introduced on Android and Windows
Phone.

5. PINTEREST
Pinterest is a pinboard-style photo-sharing website that allows users to
create and manage theme-based image collections such as events,
interests, and hobbies. Users can browse other pinboards for
images, "re-pin" images to their own pinboards, or "like" photos. The
site was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp.
It is managed by Cold Brew Labs and funded by a small group of
entrepreneurs and investors.

6. MYSPACE
Myspace is a social networking service with a strong music emphasis
owned by Specific Media LLC and pop music singer and actor Justin
Timberlake. Myspace was launched in August 2003 and is
headquartered in Beverly Hills, California. In June 2012, Myspace
had 25 million unique U.S. visitors.Myspace was founded in 2003 by
Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe, and was later acquired by News
Corporation in July 2005 for $580 million. From 2005 until early
2008, Myspace was the most visited social networking site in the
world, and in June 2006 surpassed Google as the most visited
website in the United States.

7. SNAPCHAT
Snapchat is a photo messaging application developed by Stanford
University students. Using the app, users can take photos, record
videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of
recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as
"Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their
Snaps, after which they will be hidden from the recipient's device and
deleted from Snapchat's servers.
