Eileen Murphy is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Office of Autonomously Managed and Performance Schools (AMPS) at CPS, serving more than 100 of Chicago’s highest performing schools. Eileen has taught high school English for over fifteen years in three high schools, including one she helped found, Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with national organizations, including the National Council of Teachers of English, the National Endowment for the Humanities and Facing History and Ourselves to increase teacher capacity for teaching critical literacy skills in engaging ways.
