During World War 2, pin-up pictures of actresses were popular among American soldiers and represented the women they left behind. Nearly 1 in 5 US soldiers had pictures of actresses like Betty Grable to look at for support and motivation. These pictures came to represent what the men were fighting for - to return home to the women and country they cared about.
