 The HITECH Act of 2009 requires your practice to, in consultation

Institute of Standards and Technology), to update your Federal Health
IT Strategic Plan (developed as of June 3, 2008) to include specific

 In short, this Act requires your practice to
become 100% paperless, building an electronic
file for each of your patients by 2014.
 The sharing of information between
organizations such as laboratories, pharmacies
or other entities must adhere to the HIPAA
guidelines assuring the highest level of patient
IT security available.
