2. Drop cap:
A drop cap is used twice on
this article. Once at the very
beginning and again mid
way through the text. The
first drop cap is printed
across the whole article in a
bright red. This is to capture
attention and show the
importance of the
information been given. The
second drop cap is a more
common type as it is only
slightly nigger than the rest
of the text and is printed in
black. This still suggests
importance however it is
dominated by the larger red
drop cap. Moreover, both
drop cap's are used to
display the letter ‘C’. This is
to further use celebrity
endorsement as the letter
‘C’ resembles Cheryl Cole.
This is effective because
this can be very enticing for
readers.
Main image:
The main image is spread across one whole page of the double page spread. This is
a very common convention magazines use meaning that this specific magazine
supports stereotypes for magazines. Also, it is effective because it appears creative
and appealing to the reader. This is because it prevents there from being too much
text as this can put off readers because too much text connotes with information being
overly detailed or boring and shows the page to be busy or crowded.
Colour scheme:
The colour scheme of
white, black and red is
again continued
through the magazine
as it is displayed on the
double page spread.
This is effective
because it allows the
magazine to link
together and create an
overall piece instead of
individual
pages/articles. Also, the
use of black and white
against red allows
certain features to
stand out because the
red is so contrasting.
Quotations:
A quotation is added to he bottom of the page to make the
double page spread more interesting and allow people to
feel more involved and encourage them to have their
opinion with regards to the subject revolving the article.
