Underage Alcohol Use and Abuse  Grade Level: College Subject Area: Health Time Frame: 4 weeks Designed by: Erin Murphy, M.S., CHES
For PHEs to have a clear and useable understanding of the effects of underage drinking on themselves, their peers and their community.  Then to use digital media and technology to provide background for a social norms/marketing campaign for their University. Goal
NETS S standards 1-5 are used Creativity and Innovation Communication and Collaboration Research and information fluency Critical Thinking , Problem Solving and Decision making Technology Operations and Concepts Standards
Present lectures, discussions, materials on topic Show videos to reinforce understanding of concept Develop and implement classroom lessons on components of underage drinking Build interactive curriculum that aims to teach students about alcohol’s affect on college student development Methods of Instruction
Weekly reflection summaries of research Peer evaluation Self assessment surveys/questionnaires Knowledge of topic Class participation Depth of creativity and use of technology (digital media) Evaluation
Conduct research on campus with pertinent offices Use their knowledge of college student development, peer persuasion, and theories of behavior to guide their collection of research and data May use any topic related to underage drinking and alcohol use and abuse Weekly meetings for reflection, presenting and feedback Final project will be digital media presentation Lesson
