• Current EV technologies, from extended-range Chevrolet Volt to long-range Chevrolet
Bolt EV, are available in all 50-states. These vehicles have the capability of meeting a
variety of consumer needs in all communities.
• EV Infrastructure remains a critical enabler and the Role of Utilities in transportation
electrification will (a) enable the EV market while (b) providing significant benefits to
all utility customers. Vehicle-Grid Integration is a key opportunity.
• General Motors’ EV Deployments, including high-mileage applications like Maven
Gig, have the capability of meaningful impacts – from exposure
• Public-private co-planning and investment are essential to achieve potential:
o Deployments that address multiple challenges, offer 1+1=3 solutions.
o Technical solutions are able to cut-across geographies and deployment types. Well-
designed mechanisms for working together are likely the most important key enabler.
Summary
Overall
In 13 months, Maven has launched three products and has grown to 17 cities in the U.S. and Canada
Maven has more than 25,000 members who have made more than 33,000 reservations.
Maven members have traveled more than 87 million miles – enough to circle the globe 3,490 times.
The average Maven City trip is 138 miles and the reservation lasts more than 12 hours.
EVs
Immediately, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid was one of our most popular reservations in several Maven cities.
This past February, in partnership with the LA DOT, we began adding Bolt EVs to our California fleets (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego).
With 238 miles of range, the Chevrolet Bolt EV is uniquely suited for car sharing and can provide nearly 250,000 electric miles per month.
Drivers through our Express Drive program with Lyft have told us they’re proud to be driving an EV, and say their riders always ask about the car.
Range anxiety doesn’t affect Maven members; average trips are consistently within the Bolt’s range of 238 miles to the charge.
LA Partnership
Since launching in October 2016, Maven City car sharing in Los Angeles has seen an average of 56 percent member growth month-over-month.
Seamless car sharing complements LA Mayor Garcetti’s vision to leverage multi-modal transportation solutions to enhance mobility, create jobs and bring more EVs – like the Bolt EV - to market.
Maven will leverage this existing platform as well as in-city infrastructure, fleet management capabilities and operational insights to help advance the City of Los Angeles’ Sustainable City pLAn
Maven members will play an integral role in informing the co-creation process and will provide valuable insights for future infrastructure and transportation developments.
The team is working with infrastructure providers on building a more effective, robust EV charging network.
Drivers using the Bolt EVs, for example, will have access to free charging for a limited time via the entire EVgo Freedom Station network throughout California.
Maven is also working with each of California’s investor-owned utilities, as well as Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, on infrastructure projects that can help encourage the use of EVs in the sharing economy.
