2. Registry of online tools
This repository contains online tools and apps supporting citizen
scientists initiatives and volunteer scientists in their study of nature.
Tools that can help for:
identification or
monitoring,
share and analyze
available data,
create and manage a
new project.

PlutoF Citizen Science
There is a citizen science module available on PlutoF workbench to create
projects for biodiversity data mobilization.
Project coordinator can create new project and custom data input form that
can be used for collecting data in a uniform and standard way.
Ongoing developments will also able to share their data through APIs, as well
as data recording through API tools.
● Compatible with Darwin Core standards
● Can be published through the GBIF IPT (Integrated Publishing Toolkit).
Current consensus for the taxonomic backbone is that it should follow PESI
for the European species lists and higher classifications.

EUBON Portal & Citizen Science Gateway
EUBON Portal will include CS Gateway
● CS tool directory
● intranet for CS content providers to work/publish
CS gateway will help to mobilize biodiversity data - offer some
tools, manuals, guidelines, standards recommendation

8. CS Open Data with DKAN
CSOD is an open source, open data platform with a full suite of data and content
management cataloging, publishing and visualization features. It provides features
that make it easy to upload, parse, store, publish, catalog and visualize a vast
array of data, including spreadsheets, text documents and maps.
9. Datasets and Resources with DKAN and CKAN
DKAN is an open data portal built in Drupal. DKAN is designed to be feature-compatible
with CKAN, the Open Data portal built by the Open Knowledge Foundation.
DKAN Features
With DKAN, you can:
● Easily publish datasets in key machine readable formats
including JSON, XML, RDF and more
● Share datasets through an API
● Manage the importing of large datasets
Dataset
A dataset contains individual resources
as well as metadata. Metadata is the
"Who, What, When, Where, Why" of each
dataset. There are a number of
specifications for dataset metadata and
DKAN currently complies with the DCAT
and Project Open Data schemas.
It is possible to add new fields to DKAN to
conform to additional specifications or
custom requirements.
Resource
Resources are the actual files, APIs or links that are being shared. Resource types include csv, html,
xls, json, xlsx, doc, docx, rdf, txt, jpg, png, gif, tiff, pdf, odf, ods, odt, tsv, geojson and xml files.
