A key feature of the renewed CSU Associate Degree in Policing Practice (ADPP) curriculum is the use of e-portfolios to support learning and assessment in some traditional and not so traditional ways. To directly support learning, portfolios are firstly used in a somewhat traditional way as a place for students to assemble key products emerging from their learning experience. In this way students view all their key products or artefacts and crucially to critically reflect to deepen learning and extrapolate meaning. To directly support assessment however, e-portfolios are used as a less traditional method for students to submit products for facilitators/markers to provide ongoing developmental feedback. Key products require students at various stages of a trimester to consider their learning experience and emerging products through formal critical reflection processes. In turn these as well as all other products are marked and scored to measure performance and determine progression.
