1. Independent Battlefield 4 Community Survey Results - March 2014
Editor’s Notes: Remember that this survey was done indepenently, by one person.
It was not issued by DiCE nor by any of their developers. I used it as a constructive
way to practice with Excel while helping the BF4 community voice at the same time.
This means: There was little to no time, nor financial incentive for longer pilot tests.
Please think of the results as a reasonable basis of discussion, but do not use them
as undisputable facts to wage wars against EA, developers, studios or employees.
Download the PDF for better clarity, consider this when interpreting these results:
- These are mostly opinions of Reddit/r/battlefield_4 visitors during Feb 27 - March 1.
- In this PDF the circle diagrams are not color coded, but each color is more unique.
- The disapproving votes regarding casual game modes played in DLC maps can be
ignored. Mostly because people have probably not played those modes there yet.
- Some disapproving votes on the DLC weapons can also be taken with a grain of salt.
- I experimented with a new way to generate agree/disagree results with fewer clicks.
This made some people question why I didn’t split questions or add more answers.
I know splitting questions and providing more exact answers is better statistically,
but this survey was meant to overview BF4 in a descriptive way rather than analytic.
- The disagreeing votes are created passively but could also reflect confusion, or a
lacking willingness to agree with something that is not recognized or understood.
- Despite this, I have identified some interesting areas to properly investigate in small
future follow-up surveys, which could be short enough for DiCE’s Battlelog Blog polls.
I hope this has highlighted & given some weight to most of our community concerns.
Some things I’ve learned included the security flaws with multiple responses and the
non-updating live summaries of Google Forms. I am sure there are many survey tools
out there that have better options, incl. IP tokens, live analytics and diagram editors!
