2. INTRODUCTION
The current state of energy generation and its use in
Pakistan has brought the pace of production wheel
to a seriously low level. There are many reasons for
this state of affairs. We have observed the
problems at hand and you will see their outcome
and answers.
3. POWER GENERATING SOURCES IN PAKISTAN
Pakistan has many types of power generating sources
which are:
Hydel power
Thermal power
Solar energy
Wind power
Bio fuels
4. PROVINCIAL SOURCES OF POWER
GENERATION
Most of electricity in Pakistan is generated,
transmitted, distributed and retail supplied
by WAPDA(water and power development
authority) except in Karachi where
KESC(Karachi electric supply corporation)
supplies power to Karachi and surrounding
areas. There are about 20 independent
power producers that contribute significantly
to electricity contribution in Pakistan.

10. HOW ELECTRICITY GETS TO YOU
Electricity is made at a power plant by huge generators.
Most power plants use coal, but some use natural gas,
water or even wind.
The current is sent through transformers to increase the
voltage to push the power long distances.
The electrical charge goes through high-voltage
transmission lines that stretch across the country.
It reaches a substation, where the voltage is lowered so
it can be sent on smaller power lines.
It travels through distribution lines to your neighborhood,
where smaller pole-top transformers reduce the voltage
again to take the power safe to use in our homes.
11. It connects to your house through the service drop and
passes through a meter that measures how much our
family uses.
The electricity goes to the service panel in your
basement or garage, where breakers or fuses protect the
wires inside your house from being overloaded.
Kids, never touch a service panel! It is only to be
operated by your parents or a professional.
The electricity travels through wires inside the walls to
the outlets and switches all over your house.
Pakistan needs 9500MW of electricity. It is presently
facing a shortfall of more than 2500MW.
12.
13. GAP IN SUPPLY AND DEMAND
the gap between supply a demand of electricity in Pakistan
:
The power shortfall in the country has reached 6,000
megawatts and as much as 20 hours of load shedding in
cities and 22 hours load shedding in rural areas are
going on Pakistan Electric Power Company has stated
the total shortfall of electricity in country is 6,000
megawatts. Across the country.
Pakistan’s acute energy crisis has affected each segment
of society. In the summer season, frequent power
outages crippled the lives of people when the gap
between demand and supply was constantly increasing
and the shortfall reached between 6,000 and 8,000
megawatts. In the winter season, the situation has
become even worse due to a shortage of gas.
18. HOW TO BALANCE ENERGY NEEDS WITH
COMMUNITY NEEDS?
Pakistan is going through an energy crisis. The crisis
can be overcome by sustainable use of energy
which means that people need to save energy
through its wise use. Careful planning is required at
this stage considering all the options at hand to
balance energy needs with community needs.
