1. ETRI Journal Call for Papers for
The Special Issue on Geospatial and Location Information
Today's world is filled with geospatial and location information. Such information has become wide-
spread in almost all disciplines and industries, including relevant technologies, such as Geographic
Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) and Location Based Services (LBS), which make
people's lives more comfortable and business more prosperous. As the convergence among
geospatial information with other fields becomes more common, many researchers are
concentrating on new topics, such as u-GIS, Where 2.0, Geoweb, Green-IT, and a number of new
geospatial contents and services. The development of mobile communications and positioning
technologies make possible more powerful location information services, and the enhancement of
the positioning technologies continue to improve the quality of service. Safety service, real-time
navigation service, and emergent message broadcasting services based on location information are
now the main LBS services and play an important role in public security.
This special issue deals with recent advances in the study of geospatial and location information
technologies and applications in a variety of fields. Papers to be submitted should focus on but is not
limited to one of the following areas:
Geospatial Information Technologies
- GIS (Geographic Information System)
- RS (Remote Sensing)
- Surveying
- 3D/4D GIS
Positioning Technologies
- GPS (DGPS/RTK)/INS
- Wireless Location (WLAN, UWB, ZigBee, RFID, etc.)
- Integrated Positioning
Geospatial Information Convergence
- u-GIS
- Where 2.0, Geoweb

- Green-IT
LBS (Location-Based Service)
- Navigation
- Indoor/Outdoor LBS
- Vehicle/Pedestrian Location Service
- Military Location Service
Geospatial Contents and Services
- GeoMultimedia (GeoImage, GeoVideo, etc.)
- UGC (User-created Geospatial Contents)
- GeoDRM, Geospatial Access Control
- NSDI (National Spatial Data Infrastructure)
- u-City, u-Government
