2. My Hypothesis
I think that my survey, which is about social networking websites and how people
access them and how much they access them, will give me results that will provide
sufficient evidence to believe that a large percentage of people use social
networking websites daily. There is also a range of accessing these websites from
apps on smartphones to using the original method of the computer/laptop. This
therefore will have an impact on how people stay up to date with friends and this
will also show in my results that many that have a smartphone use this as their
main way to access social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter.
3. Age of Participants
The age of the participants was key to helping prove my hypothesis
because it secures the range of data allowing for the possibility that
smartphones impact upon use of social networking sites due to the youth
of participants.
4. Gender in Contrast to Age
The gender of the participants in contrast to age was key to helping prove
my hypothesis because it secures the range of data allowing for the
possibility that smartphones impact upon social networking sites may be
due to gender.
5. Age in Contrast to Preferred
Social Networking Site
Whilst preferred social networking website isn't entirely important in my
confirmation of hypothesis, it still shows a representation of what age
prefers what type of social networking site, from Facebook to Google +.
6. Age in Contrast to Usage
Age in Contrast to usage is key to finding out whether age is more of an
impact on usage than a smartphones impact upon social networking usage.
Therefore this question and results graph had an impact upon my
hypothesis.
7. Age in Contrast to Technology
Age in contrast to technology was key in proving my theory that there was
a link between youth, smartphones and social networking websites.
However, there seemed to be only a little relevance with my theory that
smartphones were more frequently used to access social networking
websites.
8. Hypothesis Outcome
The results conform to my hypothesis slightly in the fact that they do show
that there is a slight connection between social networking websites and
smartphone apps like the one I am creating. There is also the possibility that
age affects the use of smartphone apps as many over the age of 30 were not
familiar with smartphone apps and were also not a big user of social
networking sites unless to keep in contact with family and friends. This
therefore also shows that there isn’t a huge link in advertisements or
recommendations through social networking sites for smartphone apps,
although it did show that other parts of the internet contribute to sales of
smartphone apps, such as gaming/app forums that are popular and well
known. Overall the questionnaire shows that whilst there is a slight
connection between social networking sites and smartphone apps, it isn’t big
enough to do a massive advertisement for my app that is in creation. A better
thing to do would be to rely on forums that review apps for a good review,
therefore making me focus more on creating a good app and spreading the
word on the internet through popular gaming websites for apps.
