Description:
The Bradley Acres Pond Retrofit project was substantially completed on March 16, 2015. The project is located in the
Horespen Creek Watershed and is bounded by residential units from the northwest, southeast, an open space from the
northeast and bounded by West Ox Road from the south. The project converted an existing extended detention dry
pond to a constructed stormwater wetland pond. The project provides improved down stream water quality benefits
and detention improvement. The water quality benefits realized by this project will be the removal of 21.19 lbs./year of
total phosphorus, 97.77 lbs./year of total nitrogen and 3,751.99 lbs./year of total suspended solids.
Project Overview:
• Removed the existing trickle ditch
• Excavated and constructed three shallow marshes
• Constructed step pool conveyance channel and plunge pool below the existing 42”X27” culvert
• Constructed two imbricated stone weir structures
• Constructed an access maintenance road with 2- 24” RCP culvert structure
• Re-graded the pond as per the approved plan
• Seeded all the disturbed areas with selective Native Grass, Upland and High Marsh Seed mix
• Replanted the site with a mix of trees and plugs
