The German Romantics thought the nation is an
alive being with culture , a language and a common
history.
For French people the nation is formed by the
voluntary decision of a group of people.
Two processes arose from these ideas:
4. THE POLITIC OF THE STATES

The national language was introduced by the
education.
There were developed traditions, flags and national
anthem, etc. that were converted in the symbols of
the country
5. THE DISPERSION OF THE
NATIONALISM MOVEMENTS

converted in an independent country.
The most serious cases were Austro-Hungarian and
Turkish empire. In the XIX.C many of this groups created
politic movements that demand the independence.

although Northern Ireland was under the power of Great
Britain.
6. Unifying movements: Italy and
Germany
Nationalist movements led to the union of populations that
were divided
Were the cases of Italy and Germany:
-The Italian peninsula was divided in several states, some of
them under foreign domination.
But the existence of a common language forged a sense of unity
among Italians. Was led by Piermont and culminated in 1861.
-Prussia was the state who led the unification. Since 1862, King
William first of Prussia and Bismarck his prime minister
accelerated unification by military means. Was born in 1871 the
German Empire, the Second Reich, which became a great
power.
