2. AmpliFIRE Support Action
Support the FIRE Community to prepare FIRE
for 2020, by strengthening the exploitation
and impact creation capacities of Future
Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE)
facilities.
Bring the concept of open innovation into the
world of Future Internet research and
experimentation, involving a wide range of
stakeholder groups and communities
Enhance the awareness for FIRE-enabled
research and innovation opportunities in the
business community, in societal domains and
in the existing FIRE community.

4. AmpliFIRE’s Vision on FIRE
In 2020, Internet infrastructures, services and applications form the
backbone of connected regional and urban innovation ecosystems.
People, SMEs and organisations collaborate seamlessly across
borders to experiment on novel technologies, services and business
models to boost entrepreneurship and new ways of value creation
FIRE facilities as FI
technology development
platforms backbone of
European R&I ecosystems
FIRE experimental
research and user-driven
co-creation are connected
(push – pull)
FIRE facilities integrate
elements of user driven open
innovation, working with large-
scale user communities
A hybrid sustainable
development model is
operational for FIRE facilities,
grounded in Future Internet
value networks
6. AmpliFIRE Project Objectives
1. Develop a Vision 2020 of Future Internet research and
experimentation, including the role of FIRE facilities; setting
out a transition path towards a “FIRE Ecosystem 2020”
2. Assess today’s capabilities and resources, finding those
required to realize the future vision, finding gaps to be
addressed
3. Explore collaboration opportunities and models to realize
longer term sustainability of a European-wide Future
Internet experimental facility, based on service offer portfolio
4. Enhance awareness and impact of Future Internet research
and experimentation for business and society, identify
exploitation opportunities
9. Final remarks
After FIRE STATION end, AmpliFIRE continues several of its
activities to support the FIRE Community: in particuloar
communication and dissemination, and community building
Compared with FIRE STATION, AmpliFIRE focuses on the
further, sustainable, evolution of FIRE facilities, service
offering and user communities
AmpliFIRE with FIRE Community develops a FIRE future vision
but also prepares a plan supporting the transition path
