Servant of Greater God "Mother Teresa" (THE WAY TO LIGHT)

 1. 1. A Servant of Greater God Mother Teresa “Quotes” http:// www.slideshare.net/firelight1 Prepared: Varouj Music: Gheorghe Iovu “ Calea Spre lumina ” ♥♫
 2. 2.

Mother Teresa (Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu)

Borne Skopje, Macedonia, August 27, 1910, Albanian descent.

The age of 12 she felt called by God to be a missionary so she became a nun.

She served 3 years at a convent in Ireland.

Age 21 was sent to Calcutta India to teach at St. Mary's High School.

 3. 3.

She never saw her mother and sister again. She was affected deeply by the misery and poverty she glimpsed outside the convent walls.

In 1948 she received permission to leave the convent school and dedicate herself to working among the penniless, needy and dying in the slums of Calcutta.

She had no funds, she started an open-air school for slum children, and her life's work began.

 4. 4.

In 1950 she started "The Missionaries of Charity", which became an International Religious Family by a decree of Pope Paul VI in 1965.

The Society of Missionaries has spread all over the world with the principal task to love and care for the poor and the helpless needy.

She received Nobel Peace Prize 1979.

 5. 5.

“ If you judge people, you have no time to

love them.”

 6. 6.

“ We can do

no great things, only small things with great love.”

 7. 7.

“ It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.”

 8. 8.

“ If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor disgrace, because you know what you are.”

 9. 9.

“ Do not allow yourselves to be disheartened by any failure as long as you have done your best.”

 10. 10.

“ There is only one God

and He is God to all;

therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I've always said we should help a Hindu

become a better Hindu,

a Muslim become a better Muslim,

a Catholic become a better Catholic.”

 11. 11.

“ If we really want to love, we must learn how to forgive .”

 12. 12.

“ When a poor person dies

of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her.

It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.”

 13. 13.

“ Before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen,

for God speaks in the silence of the heart.”

 14. 14.

“ It is not enough for us to say:

"I love God," but I also have to love my neighbor. St. John says that you are a liar if you say you love God and you don't love your neighbor. How can you love God whom you do not see, if you do not love your neighbor whom you see, whom you touch, with whom you live?”

 15. 15.

“ Do not wait for leaders; do it alone,

person to person.”

 16. 16.

“ I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds I feel I am nursing the Lord himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?”

 17. 17.

“ There is a terrible hunger

for love. We all experience that in our lives - the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family.

Find them. Love them.”

 18. 18.

“ The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give.

But the less you have the freer you are.

Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance. It is joyful freedom.

There is no television here,

no this, no that. But we are perfectly happy.”

 19. 19.

“ If we pray, we will believe; If we believe, we will love. If we love, we will serve.”

 20. 20.

“ You and I, we are the Church, no? We have to share with our people. Suffering today is because people are hoarding, not giving, not sharing. Jesus made it very clear. Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you do it to me.

Give a glass of water, you give to me. Receive a little child, you receive me.”

 21. 21.

“ Only in heaven

will we see how much we owe to the poor for helping us to love God better because

of them.”

 22. 22.

“ Make us worthy, Lord, to serve those people throughout the world who live and die in poverty and hunger. Give them through our hands, this day, their daily bread, and by our understanding love, give them peace and joy.”

 23. 23.

“ The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.”

 24. 24.

“ The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved .”

 25. 25.

“ If you cannot feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”

 26. 26.

“ Where there is great love, there are always great miracles.”

 27. 27.

“ We know that whatever we do is simply a droplet in the ocean. But if that droplet were missing, the ocean would be lacking.”

 28. 28.

“ Joy…

is a net of love by which you can catch souls.”

 29. 29.

“ Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”

 30. 30.

“ God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.”

 31. 31.

“ Peace…

begins with

a smile.”

 32. 32.

“ There is no greater sickness in the world today than the lack of love…”

 33. 33.

“ Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is bliss, taste it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.”

 34. 34.

Prayer:

“ Love is the light—and in the end, the only light—that can always illuminate a world grown dim and give us the courage needed to keep living and working.” Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, help us to believe that “love is possible, and we are able to practice it because we are created in the image of God.”

Like you, we want “to experience love and in this way to cause the light of God to enter into the world.”

 35. 36.

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day,

so I never have to live without you.“

Winnie the Pooh

http://www.slideshare.net/firelight1
