• Combines players from marine/maritime and textile sector
• Goals:
– to explore possibilities and to facilitate developments of innovative
textile products for marine/maritime applications
– to create a platform where the companies can meet in a structured
way and find opportunities

17. Example: NAVALTEX - Italian cluster for
textile innovation in naval applications
• NAVALTEX brings together two sectors of excellence of Made-
in-Italy:
– Interior textiles sector
– Naval and yachting sector
• Goal:
– Match and capitalise leading technologies from the demand and offer
sides with the aim of launching cooperative R&D projects
– Moderated working groups were organised dedicated to identifying
needs and priorities
• More than 30 companies involved in the matchmaking

• Several “contact points” between Blue growth and textile sector:
– Innovative textile solutions can enable solutions for key needs/bottlenecks in
marine and coastal sectors
– Marine and coastal sectors can offer interesting growth potential for EU
technical textile companies

– Contribution to (renewable) offshore energy infrastructure
