3. Frank
The film follows Jon (Domhnall Gleeson) who lives in a small quiet town in England by the
seaside. Jon is working in a mundane office job and wishes to pursue his passion for becoming a
song writer and entering a band. One day, the band Soronprfbs, come to his town and their
keyboard player has a mental breakdown. Jon grabs this opportunity and is soon playing with
the band and is travelling with them to Ireland to record an album. The band is made up of
Frank , an eccentric man who wears an over-sized paper head at all times and his girlfriend Clara
who has deep resentment towards Jon. There is also Don who acts as the manager (who used to
play the keyboard also). Jon wants to develop the band and make them more popular and to
showcase Frank’s ingenious music capability but Clara resists. Soon the group find themselves in
trouble as Don commits suicide and Frank becomes panicked and escapes under pressure of
performing. This film centres around the aspirations of Jon becoming a band member and song
writer but also highlights themes of mental illness as Frank suffers with a mental illness which is
why he keeps the paper head on , which he has worn since his teenage years and has NEVER
taken off! This film also shows the crazy side of joining an independent band and the struggles
of making it big in the music industry and gaining popularity.

I would recommend this film for 18-24 year olds as the themes of aspiration
and adventure are more inclined towards young adults of this age because
they are looking to venture out themselves into the world and work on
their own future and dreams, plus, the characters are all adults so a
younger audience would feel less personal identity compared to someone
of a similar age. This film also touches upon sensitive issues such as
Mental illness which may seem explicit for a young audience.
The characters are predominantly male , including the protagonist so I
would suggest this film for a male audience.
This film is great for those who have interests in – Music , song writing ,
bands and adventure.
The majority of the characters are white so I would recommend this film
for a white British audience as it is set within Britain.

6. Need for speed
Need for speed follows Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), from New York. He has just been
released from prison after 2 years because he was framed for the murder of his close
friend – Little Pete – which he never committed. Whilst he was in prison , all he could
think about was getting back into his racing passion.
Tobey works in a car workshop and he is soon given the opportunity to work on a new
sleek car which he was determined to make the fastest car. He continues to build it so
it can reach the high speed of 234mph. He then seeks to enter the race ‘The DeLeon’
in order to have his revenge against the man who had framed him for the murder of
his friend.
There he takes part in an epic race which plays in his act of revenge and redemption.
The film touches upon these themes in an minute manner as the film is purely based
on just the aspect of racing. However , soon the police are hot on his trail as he breaks
his parole and their is a bounty put on his car. With the help of his friends and
girlfriend Julia , he manages to make it across the country to win the illicit race.

I would recommend this film for 13-25 year olds of the male gender
because the themes such as car racing would interest them
more as car racing is often associated with males. The film is also
based
on a videogame which has been popular amongst this age group.
As this is set in New York , this may be for a white American
audience
as the characters are predominantly white and this film may have
cultural references that only people from America may understand.
This film would interest those who like : Cars , racing , mechanics
and video
games – as this represented clearly throughout the movie.
