Bing Maps is an online mapping platform offered by Microsoft. There are several API’s available for different devices. Bing Maps is best known for it’s high quality imagery which is unmatched by any other online mapping API. Bing Maps is also known for the creation of many cutting edge technologies such as birdseye imagery (2005), online 3D maps (2005), venue maps (also known as indoor maps, created in 2010), and streetside (also known as streetview, created by Microsoft research in 2005).

Venue maps were released in Bing Maps in June of 2011. There are currently 885 venues available in 4 different countries. Venue maps were released in Europe in December of 2011. Circular Arc Support: This means there are new shape types;CurvePolygon, CircularString, CompoundCurve. The image to the right demonstrates the benefit of a curved line versus a line segment. Curved shapes are significantly smaller in than storing all the points as a line segment.Full Globe Support: In SQL Server 2008 a single shape could not be any larger than a half a hemisphere. This limitation has been removed.Improved Precision: Now using 48 bits of precision meaning that a lot more decimal places are supported and usedImproved Performance: Spatial queries have been found to be 10 to 30 times faster than the same queries in SQL Server 2008. STBuffer is faster and has lower memory footprint.
This is an example of just one of the many new aggregate tools in SQL Server 2012. To do this type of union in SQL Server 2008 you had to loop through the shapes and union them to a base shape which made for a lot more work then needed.

A cluster consists of several servers networked together where each server in the cluster performs one or more specific tasks. Cluster components include Head Nodes, and Compute Nodes, Job Scheduler and Broker Nodes (for SOA enabled clusters.)Head NodeThe single point of management and job scheduling for the cluster. It provides failover and controls and mediates access to the cluster resources.Compute NodeCarries out the computational tasks assigned to it by the job scheduler. Job SchedulerQueues jobs and their associated tasks. It allocates resources to these jobs, initiates the tasks on the compute nodes; and monitors the status of jobs, tasks, and compute nodes.Broker Node Act as intermediaries between the application and the services. The broker load-balances the service requests to the services, and finally return results to the application.
You can further expand your cluster by using Windows Azure for a greater number of compute instances. This is a great architecture for a low cost solution, or for situations where you may need additional compute instances for a one off job.
