2. Continental drift
Continental drift is where the continents spilt from the mega continent
(Pangaea). The continents of America and Africa used to be joined
together and fitted like a giant jigsaw puzzle!

3. Evidence for continental drift.
• The evidence of the continental drift is the
mechanism for plate tectonics. South America
and Africa fit together. Also fossils on the
other side of the world match that of the
fossils found on the other side of the planet!

4. How did the plates move?
• The plates move because they where on the
water surface and the currents of molten rock
and are on top of a mantle that produces
radioactive forces jostling causing the plates to
uproot and move. Also eight major plates on
the surface of the world there are also
bunches of mirror plates the plates are on the
skin of the planet. They are constantly moving
around the planet (by a couple of centimetres
a year).

these move slowly over the mantle that
pushes up through the rock.
