Step by Step Instructions to Properly Setup
mapfolio in ArcGIS Online.
3. Login to Marketplace
• Log into ArcGIS Marketplace
• Click “My Console”.
• Click “My Purchased Items”.
4. Share the App with Your Template
Group
• Click on the “View Item” link in the mapfolio listing.
5. Share the App with Your Template
Group
• Click the “SHARE” button below the thumbnail image.
• Share the app to your default template group.
• Then click, “OK”.
Don’t have a default template group? Checkout the next slide.
6. Create a Default Template Group
• If you already have a default template group you can
skip this section of the setup process.
• Click “GROUPS” from the main menu inside your
organization’s ArcGIS Online account.
• Then click “CREATE A GROUP”.
7. Create a Default Template Group
• Fill out the form for creating your new group and click
“SAVE”.
• After your new group has been successfully
saved, click “My ORGANIZATION” from the main
menu.
8. Create a Default Template Group
• From the “MY ORGANIZATION” page, click “EDIT
SETTINGS”.
• Click “Map” in the left column.
9. Create a Default Template Group
• Select your new group from the dropdown options
under “Web App Templates”.
– Note: You may want to check the box for “Add the Esri default web application templates
to this group”. This will make sure that you still have access to all the default templates
provided by Esri when creating a new web app.
10. Create a New Web Map to Publish
with the App
• Once mapfolio is shared to the template group, click
on “MAP” in the main menu.
– Notes: You will create a new web map. Maps enable you to access your applications.
• Once the map is open, Click “Save”.
11. Create a New Web Map to Publish
with the App
• Save the web map and make sure you can access it
from the “MY CONTENT” page.
– Note: You do not need data in this web map. It is only a container storing your
configuration options such as showing profile images or content filter tags that you will
set at a later step.
• Choose title, tags, summary, and save in folder. Then
click “SAVE MAP”.
12. Create and Share Web App
• From the same web map you just saved, click the
“Share” button.
• Share the web map to the organization (whoever you
want to access the mapfolio application).
13. Create and Share Web App
• Click “MAKE WEB APPLICATION” button located in
the “Share” dialogue box.
14. Create and Share Web App
• Find the purchased mapfolio app as template.
• Click “Publish”.
15. Create and Share Web App
• Save in the same folder that you saved your web map.
• Then click “Save & Publish”.
16. Configure App
• Click on “MY CONTENT” from the main menu.
• Access the mapfolio “Web Mapping Application” you
just created.
– Make sure you access the mapfolio template from the MY CONTENT” page. Accessing
from the “GROUPS” page will not give you access to the application.

19. Access the App
• For first time access, go to “MY CONTENT” from the
main menu.
• Then click the Web Mapping Application from the list.
20. Access the App
• Find the URL link
under the “Properties”
section of the
application’s page.
• It is recommended
that you provide your
users with:
– Shortcut of the URL on the users
Desktop
– Bookmark the URL
– Save link to the URL and provide
access via Intranet page, email, etc.
