a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge. The mission of the Wikimedia Foundation is to empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally. The Foundation provides the essential infrastructure and an organizational framework for the support and development of multilingual wiki projects and other endeavors which serve this mission. Local chapters are self-dependent organizations that share the goals of the Wikimedia Foundation and support them within a specified geographical region. They support the Wikimedia Foundation, the Wikimedia community and the Wikimedia projects in different ways - by collecting donations, organizing local events and projects and spreading the word of Wikimedia and Free Culture. They also provide the volunteer community and potential partners and supporters with a point of contact capable of fulfilling specific local needs. note that the local chapters are independent associations with no legal control of or responsibility for the websites of the Wikimedia Foundation or vice versa.

GAK Rodopis: We Installed a mediawiki and trained the director in publishing and organiseng content. The intention is to make a website where the Archives will be publishing its content there and that we will promote the site and get citizens to provide their material to the Archives or help organizing the archive, recognize persons or buildings in the photographs, provide some more information about them etc. Of course we will be getting whatever is public domain and of educational value and uploading it to Wikimedia Commons. Larisa Gallery: Persuade the mayor and the gallery to upload in Commons images of their public domain paintings they have in their gallery. This is a difficult task as even in their website the images are watermarked. Also, although the paintings are typically in public domain, museums and organisations in Greece tend to claim copyright for everything they have in their possession. Getting organisations to acknowledge the public domain status of things the own is an important task that should be also a task for the OKFN.
Get at first a big and a small museum Book festival if we find the funds for the booth and the leaflets and other promotional material Teachers, professors and students are the best target group for potential editors
