Place of  interest Marina Barrage The iconic Marina Barrage, the realization of a vision twenty years ago, is set to boost Singapore’s water supply, alleviate flooding in the low-lying city areas and become a hot spot for recreational activities.   National water agency PUB unveils the Marina Barrage on 1 November 2008, the vision of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew more than twenty years ago. Opening its gates to the public, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s first reservoir in the city, Marina Reservoir.  The barrage will serve three benefits: create a freshwater reservoir to boost Singapore’s water supply, alleviate flooding in low lying areas of the city and provide a new venue for water-based recreation.
