3. Christian’s holiday Prochka
In Prilep , for the christian’s holiday
Prochka traditional takes place the mask
carnevail . Prochka is very old tradition
to relase from bad spirits , and to pull
down the masks that we wear everyday.
Like every year , Prochka is interesting
mix of pagan masks and music , pipes and
drums and very creative individual masks.
Prochka is the last day of grate easter’s
post . To people this kind of word is use
for the day that we are forgive from our
closest . Crhristian’s skarma of those
traditions is result od church practice
from the time of establishing the
crhristianity .

4. The tradinional prilep’s mask Mechkari or the bear old 300
years ago will be safe like spiritual heritage. There is a belief
that forgiveness is Reservoir holiday. Traditional mask
trademark Prilep is mechkarskata. Mechkarite are demons of
ancestors and are considered to be responsible for fertility
and the living and the dead. MECHKARSKI masks are made od
fresh skins which are tying in earlier morning in cold areas.
Then we sing and fine drink to bring st ritual trance. Faces of
black broadcloth, vimpire teeth, and used stuffed animals. All
carry sticks, and bells. With drums and Prilep's pipes and the

6. Spasovden
Spasovden is celebrated 40 days
after Easter and always on
Thursday. Forty days after the
resurrection of Jesus Christ
appeared to his disciples and
preparing them for their future
activity. During this period, people
are still welcome to 'Christ is Risen'
and greet you with 'Truly He is
Risen '. Spasovden will be recognized
after the traditional festival
costumes and instruments. The
festival is dedicated to the folk
artist, piper Pece Atanasovski.

7. Bear Fest
Beer Festival is held during the summer in the town of Prilep
municipality organized Prilep.The festival is open type held in the
city center. Like quests take known producers of beer and local
ugostitels.Visiters come from all parts of Macedonia and
neighboring countries.The festival is known for good
entertainment, barbecue and cold beer and of course the massive
visiting. Performers are stars from the region and beyond
boundaries.

9. St.Nicholas
St. Nicholas is the patron of the city of Prilep. On this occasion

12. Vasilica
Vasilica custom pudding is presented with a coin. According
to the old custom of pie everyone gets a piece, and the one

the year. It is mostly associated with customs and beliefs
associated with the New Year. First group of children are
around a common fire, and then going from house to house
through the village or town, singing songs appropriate for

13. Amkanje
Amkanje is custom which was

close family gathers at home. The

14. CRAFST

and the environment in Prilep. In XIX century craftsmanship Prilep
becomes important trade center in the region. Prilep fair that they

the Old Town and were organized into guilds. Unfortunately,
primarily because of rapid industrial development, the craft is dying.

16. HANDICRAFST
From collecting - from all collectors of Macedonian folklore, Marko

kids games, linguistic and ethnological material (vocabulary, secret
languages, descriptions of crafts, customs, rituals, paraphernalia of
domestic material life and folk agronomy. Author of the dramatic
work 'Crne Vojvoda' and his autobiography is a rich source for the
study of the entire life in Prilep.

BYZANTINE PERIOD
Basic information on the most sacred monuments in the vicinity of
Prilep and Byzantine period
Church. Nicholas Varos is one of the most significant buildings in
Macedonia, whose walls can easily see two phases creator. The
original, small single-nave church built of stone used by ancient
Spoleto, was built around 1200 and the second architectural phase, ie

26. St. Nicholas, the village of Monastery
Church of St. Nicholas Monastery in the village is built on an older
building, but today it got in shape in 1266. Three-nave basilica church

the building. In 1990, a large fire burned all the monastery lodgings,
only the church and the old dining room remained untouched by the
fire. In the period after the fire has made the restoration project of
the monastery buildings.

29. Archangel Michael – Varos
The original church in the monastery St. Archangel Michael in Varos,
built in XII century, was a small one-nave church with a semicircular
apse, which later on the west side porch was built with a dome on
pendentives, which was later destroyed. Today the monastery complex
shape after it gets the great architectural activity in 1861, when built
dormitories and a bell tower above the church porch. Monastery
buildings are a fine example of high aesthetic qualities of our
architecture and a refined sense of builder architecture blends into
the natural surroundings and terrain configuration. On the western inn
is run conservation and restoration in the period 1964 1969. Bell tower
built above the porch, with the latest conservation and restoration
works that were undertaken on the church in the eighties, was

31. Post-Byzantine Period
Basic information on the most sacred monuments in the vicinity of Prilep
and Byzantine periodChurch. Elias village Dolgaec is first and full
architectural achievement in the early years of Ottoman rule. It is a small,
one-nave church cemetery, basically a trapezoidal shape, rustically
constructed in stone with lime mortar. The east end with a shallow
rectangular apse, covered with stone slabs. Typical is the vault and the

form of a fish bone. The church was built and painted 1454/5 year. Just

32. Virgin Mary, village Kostinci

east facade of the apse is frescoed

architecture of the church as a
blueprint.

33. St. Atanas, village Rilevo
Data on the time and circumstances of the construction of church.

Church Sv.Blagoveshtenie, Prilep
One of the numerous monuments from
the period of revival in the first half of
the XIX century is St. Annunciation,
known as Old Church in Prilep. Built by
the famous bat Masters Costa Lauco
and Riste Taslamiche in 1838, a three-nave
basilica with three semi-circular
apses on the east side. There are
modest fresco painting located in the
sanctuary and the vault of the central
nave, but the greatest value is in the
interior threads. For this purpose called
the best and most studied wood from
Debar, the group of Peter Filiposki -
Garkata. Made monumental iconostasis,
pulpit and bishop's throne, which are
masterpieces of cultural heritage of
Macedonia.

35. Clock tower, Prilep
Clock Tower was built in the center of the Old Bazaar in 1858
replacing the older wooden clock tower, which burned in a fire that
consumed the entire Old Town in 1854. Regarding the material of
which the tower is constructed in terms of the construction system,
clock tower is divided into two parts of a massive stone skeleton of
wooden construction. The total height of the building is 38.76 meters.
In 1985 developed the project for conservation of the Clock Tower,
and in 1986 the process of conservation of above-ground part of the
tower was completed. An interesting fact about Clock Tower in Bat is
that it has an inclination of 1.16 m in the ongoing study on structural
consolidation of the facility in cooperation with IZIIS -. Skopje.

in the second half of XVIII and beginning of XIX century, when the

37. ISLAM ARCHITECTURE
In Prilep, in one urban complex with a clock tower, into the compound
of the old Bazaar Bazaar Mosque is located. Built during the reign of
Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror, ie during Brusanskiot style, a simple
form of mosques of the period. Built in several phases. For the first
stage we learn from authentic surviving inscription in Arabic script in
Turkish, which among other things says that the mosque was built in
